CLINICAL TRIALS AND RESEARCH

What is a clinical trial?

The most promising and successful cancer treatments have been thoroughly tested through the clinical trials process. During the clinical trial, many types of treatment—chemotherapy, radiation, and other therapies—are tested for effectiveness and safety.

CBCC offers clinical trials for a variety of cancers.

CBCC has earned a reputation as a leader in research. We have participated in every significant clinical trial since the mid-1980’s. That means that our patients have had early access to new treatments before they are widely available. In fact, CBCC has often been selected to be among an exclusive and elite group of cancer centers to test state-of-the-art therapies.

The advantage of participating in a clinical trial is early access to new cancer treatments. However, you should remember that clinical trials are research and the treatments are under development. The decision to participate in a clinical trial should be thoughtfully considered. While it is a good choice for some people, treatment options have possible benefits and drawbacks. You want to discuss these options with your doctor and those close to you.
