CBCC has earned a reputation for innovation. Since our inception, CBCC has been first to consistently bring the latest technology, state of the art treatments, and clinical trials to our community.
One of CBCC's early breakthroughs was the affiliation with UCLA's Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center. Since the 1980’s, our affiliation has provided an opportunity for our patients to benefit from world-class oncology treatment—right here at home. Now our community's children, adolescents, and young adults will have access to world-class cancer treatments without having to travel the state.
Cancer treatment can be challenging on patients and their families. This is especially true for children. Up to now, children had to be treated at clinics 2-3 hours away. This adds strain and stress to an already difficult circumstance.
The new CBCC Pediatric Oncology Clinic will provide a host of services including on-site evaluations, follow-up, access to promising clinical trials—all right here in Bakersfield.
CBCC is determined to offer patients the most advanced cancer treatments available. Utilizing the latest technology is an essential tool to outsmarting cancer. We continue to invest in the technology that can diagnose and treat cancer with increasing accuracy and effectiveness.
Since 1984, CBCC has treated thousands of patients. We have grown from a small clinic to one of the largest freestanding cancer centers on the West Coast and have been nationally recognized for clinical excellence. CBCC was designed and built philosophically and practically as a Cancer Center that places the patient first. This principle gives everyone at CBCC an intense focus to go above and beyond what is expected every day. Our newest and youngest patients experience the same extraordinary level of compassion, understanding and clinical excellence that CBCC has become known for.
Effectively treating cancer requires a dedicated team. That idea is one of the foundations at CBCC. Our new Pediatric Oncology Outpatient Clinic operates with the same level of cooperation that has been fundamental to CBCC's growth and success. There are skilled Pediatric Oncologists on the CBCC campus. These outstanding physicians, from the prestigious UCLA Department of Pediatrics—Division of Hematology/Oncology at Mattel's Children's Hospital, collaborate with the CBCC staff to provide seamless care, including access to the latest treatment options. Dr. Theodore B. Moore, Professor and Chief of the Division of Pediatric Hematology Oncology at Mattel Children's Hospital stated, "CBCC is an excellent resource in the Bakersfield area offering state-of-the-art care to people with cancer and this affiliation will provide a wealth of options for diagnosis, treatment, and follow up care to the younger members of the community."
When a family member is diagnosed with cancer, the entire family is affected. This is especially true of children. Having a Pediatric Oncology Clinic in Bakersfield with be a significant step in alleviating some of the stress of travelling for treatment.
We have strong evidence that the team approach to treating cancer is the most effective. We extend this team concept to include parents and care-givers as important members of the patient's care team.
Parents and caregivers will be included in all the important decisions. Your understanding of the treatment is critical. Working as an integrated team, we will achieve the best possible outcome.
